The Coronavirus is Here, by Claudia Llabrés
I was a supermarket worker only at weekends, but since the alarm state I am working 40 hours a week. I was not given a choice, they needed me to fight and overcome the coronavirus. I get up everyday at 6am to go to work. My job is no longer to replenish and charge customers; now I have also to be a cleaner. Everything must be perfect and we must be “safe” wearing huge gloves and masks that have to last at least a week. It is very hard to work in these conditions and as a supermarket worker, where many people come everyday, I would like to appeal to leave selfishness behind and not coming to buy 5 things. Not only the people who come to buy are exposed, but also my peers and I are more likely to get sick and pass it to our relatives.
